The name of the first robot was called the "Unimate." Freelance writer,
Mary Bellis said,"In 1954 George Devol invented the first digitally operated and a programmable robot."
Mary then goes on to describe how in the early 19th century, things like mechanical people were fictional until the 1950s.
However, automated machinery go much farther back than that. In the same article, Marry Bellis would go on to state,
"Around 270 B.C. an ancient Greek engineer named Ctesibius made water clocks with automatons or loose figures."
Whether you know it or not we face robots almost everyday. If you work as a surgeon
then you are probable familiar with the Da Vinci Si, the robot with near inhuman persicion
made to inhance the depth and capabilities of surgical work.
A more common example is the Roomba, an automatic roaming vacuum cleaner in the shape of a small disk. The Roomba
has been designed to redirect itself when it hits a wall until turned off.
Machines have come a very long way from what they were. Over time with the change of generations came new ideas,
and with those ideas came an incredible robotic advancement. Boston Dynamics has created a bipedal humanoid
robot they named ATLAS. ATLAS was made to have the agility of a human, being made out of 3d
printed parts so it could be lightweight. ATLAS is a clear statement that thechnology has come a long way from what it was.
